Why Tenacity?
Dispatch 001
The ability to thrive through recurring struggles is a complex function of outlook, values, and ingenuity. This attribute of resilience, tenacity and grit is emerging as the enabler of long term, sustained achievement.
Succinctly put: Personal strength is paramount to individual success.
For Leaders though this is not wholly a personal trait. We must model this trait for the team - taking in, absorbing & dampening shock. Long term stability & high performance depends on developing tenacity within the leader & the led.
Operations Leaders experience these shocks in everything from technology failure, to snow in Louisville, or a shortage of corrugated π¦. Sure, you can work to anticipate & limit those things - but no Leader, system or management process can remove all shocks & surprises.
Reducing surprises is the bread & butter of management, but true Leadership creates something more important - a stable system that inhales surprises and exhales clarity, performance & repeatability. Turning chaos into clarity is the name of the game.
Our tall order is to build organizations that naturally move through these these times with grace. Preparing ourselves & teams with a culture of resilience that adapts to change, soaks up the unexpected, and charts the sustainable path toward continued high performance.
My goal is to create a community of tenacious leaders that achieve magnificent things despite the hurdles before us. Perhaps with a little elbow grease we may even attain greater things because of the struggle.
Our achievements will be enabled through better cultures and stronger teams; preparing for a future that is coming faster than we can anticipate.
The quest for resilience starts with these bold aspirations: a strategy that's forever morphing in response to emerging opportunities and trends; an organization that's constantly remaking its future rather than defending it's past; a company where revolutionary change comes in lightning-quick, evolutionary steps with no calamitous surprises, indiscriminate layoffs, or colossal write-offs.
